THE NUMBERS BEHIND MIKAELA SHIFFRIN'S 87TH WIN

Simply The G.O.A.T Part 1: The Numbers

February 19, 1989: Ingemar Stenmark wins his last race – no. 86 – and since then, has held the record for the most Alpine World Cup victories. Fast-forward to March 11, 2023: Mikaela Shiffrin wins her 87th World Cup race and breaks the thought-to-be all-time record. Let’s trace back the path that led up to the crowning of a new legend.

LOOKING BACK

THE FIRST WORLD CUP RACE - 2011
THE FIRST WORLD CUP WIN - 2012
MIKAELA TIES THE RECORD - 2023

87 victories…

… resulting in a cumulated time advantage of 62 seconds and 09 hundredths
… in 246 races, bringing a victory quota of 35.4%. Meaning Mikaela Shiffrin won roughly every third race.
… in 30 different venues, from Aare to Zagreb.
… across all 6 disciplines – Mikaela is the only skier ever who managed to win at least one slalom, giant slalom, super g, downhill, and parallel race.
… achieved on 25 different Redster models, from the Redster Doubledeck in 2012 to the Redster Revoshock in 2023

"MIKAELA'S ACHIEVEMENT IS AN INCREDIBLE FEAT THAT SHOWCASES HER DEDICATION AND HARD WORK IN THE SPORT OF SKIING."
Christian Hoeflehner, Atomic Racing Manager

53 slalom victories…

… making her the alpine racer with the most slalom World Cup victories ever – by far. On November 23rd, 2019, she won her 41st slalom and broke the record for the most victories in this discipline. Guess who held that before – you are right, Ingemar Stenmark. With slalom victory no. 47 on January 11th, 2022, in Schladming, she also took over his record for the most victories in one discipline.
… led to 7 crystal globes in this discipline – needless to say, she also holds the record for the most discipline globes.
